January 2020 | The Bachelor

It’s time for another round of the Fandom Flakies Box, and we’re back for a whole new year! Tonight I have the January 2020 box to share, and the theme is The Bachelor!

When I saw this was the theme, it brought back some memories. I never actually watched this show, but my coworker and one boss at my work watched it religiously. They would both hash it out the next day. If he came in the next day after it was on and my coworker wasn’t there – he would chat with me about the whole thing because he just HAD to tell someone. Unfortunately, he passed away a few years ago – so shows like this and Big Bang Theory (another show he loved) always bring back memories of him. While he was there, I had 5 bosses and each has a distinct personality. He was the goofy one that you would usually find chatting people up around the office. Definitely miss his presence.

Anyways, back to the box.

The January 2020 Fandom Flakies Box will feature creations from Bee’s Knees Lacquer, Night Owl Lacquer and guest maker Fair Maiden Polish. All 3 brands have been on my blog numerous times – so they are no strangers around here.

There won’t be any Ribbits Stickits Water Decals this month, but we’ll most likely see them back soon.

Let’s jump in and take a look!

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Can I Steal You For A Minute

Can I Steal You For A Minute is a sheer blue to purple pastel multichrome loaded with light gold and dark gold flakes. I used 3 thin coats for most of these photos, but I did also swatch it over black to show it works as a shifty topper and it really adds some oomph to the multichrome effect if pastel isn’t your thing (or you just like versatility.) Over black, I only used 1 coat.

While it is loaded with flakes, they lay relatively flat and only had a minor texture – so 1 coat of top coat was sufficient to smooth it over.

Night Owl Lacquer | I’m Here For The Right Reasons

I’m Here For The Right Reasons is a murky green tinged grey crelly base with crystal chameleon flakes that shift green to red to pink to gold. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The base is sheer enough to let the flakes shine through, but opaque enough to reach full opacity in 2 normal coats. Since I do really thin coats, I used 3.

Fair Maiden Polish | Fantasy Suite (Thermal)

Fantasy Sweet is a magenta rose (cold) to colorless (warm) thermal loaded with red to gold to green shifting shimmer and multichrome flakes that flash gold, bronze, magenta, green and blue. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Fandom Flakies Box January 2020 | The Bachelor

While I never watched The Bachelor, this is definitely a set that made me smile. Not just because of the stunning shades, but the fond memories of hearing all about the show from an incredible man who was taken too soon. I might actually buy a backup set to gift to my coworker, she was actually one of his best friends outside of work and their kids grew up together. I know she would appreciate this as a memory of him.

The polishes themselves are all beautifully done and even as individual shades, I feel confident they would have strong sales. When you put them together in a box – none are carrying the other (if that makes sense) in my eyes.

Hi Lisa,

Are my eyes playing a trick on me or is Fair Maiden’s offering identical to their “It’s so fluffy” from PPU’s Carnival (in terms of the pink)? At any rate I’m so excited for this box, since I’m a fan of the franchise. Thanks in advance!

It’s So Fluffy was more of a candy pink to white thermal. They have similarities, but are definitely different shades of pink :)
