Press Sample for Zoya Summer 2018 Sunshine Collection
Once again I have the immense pleasure and honor of being one of the first to be able to show this next collection. I have had these in my hands for weeks now, so I’ve had to keep quiet. But the day has finally come and I can share the Zoya Summer 2018 Sunshine Collection!
As you’ve probably already noticed, this is a very red and pink heavy collection. I was a little surprised at the color selection because it does feel like it might alienate those who aren’t pink and red lovers. With every shade though, people usually either love it or hate it so this was a gamble I think. I am not an anti-pink or anti-red person, so I was perfectly happy with this collection. I am missing the stunning Zoya blues though.
Okay so a little more about the Zoya Summer 2018 Sunshine Collection! Zoya created an assortment of bright and easy to wear shades. It’s primarily cremes, but there are two “Unicorn Kisses” shades that can be worn alone or as a topper, and there are 2 shimmer shades within the cremes.
The two “Unicorn Kisses” shades are described as holographic toppers, but I didn’t see any holo in them. They are more iridescent. If there is holo in it, it was swallowed by the iridescent flecks – but again – I didn’t see any at all.
We’re going to look at each shade, some were tricky with my camera, so any discrepancies I will mention in the description area. I also include a quick shot of each of the cremes with both toppers on it as well. The only ones without the toppers are the 2 shades with shimmer already in them.
Okay let’s jump in! After each set of photos for the cremes, you will see the Unicorn Kisses over the shades. Saldana is on the middle nail and Nahla is on the ring finger nail.
Zoya Saldana
Saldana is one of the Unicorn Kisses toppers. This is a buildable cotton candy blue iridescent fleck shade with pink shimmer and light blue glitters and shredded glitter mixed in. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Nahla
Zoya Nahla is the second Unicorn Kisses shade. This is a buildable gold shimmer fleck with some light blue shimmer flecks sprinkled in and larger gold glitters and shred glitter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Delia
Zoya Delia is a cool toned dusty amethyst creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Missy
Zoya Missy is a cool toned, muted, cotton candy pink creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Sandy
Zoya Sandy is a cool toned medium flamingo pink creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This shade actually has a crelly like appearance. Even with 2 coats it has that squishy, juicy look to it.
Zoya Ellie
Zoya Ellie is a raspberry pink creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This was hard to photograph for some reason, but the macro and 3 finger shot are more color accurate for this series of photos.
Zoya Karen
Zoya Karen is a warm, poppy red creme. Really bright and fun! I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Marigold
Zoya Marigold is a warm, bright red orange creme with gold microfleck shimmer mixed in. This is borderline neon. So close but not quite. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Virginia
Zoya Virginia is my favorite! Virginia is a bright coral red creme. This is a touch more muted in person. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Minnie
Zoya Minnie is a medium pink toned peachy creme. This is pinker in person. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Clementine
Zoya Clementine is a medium salmon pink creme with pink and orange shimmer mixed in. This is also pinker in person. My camera really grabbed the orangish tones and ran with it. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Jack
Zoya Jack is a warm light beige nude creme. Since I’m cool toned, this shade gave me a bit of lobster hands. It’s mildly lighter in person as well. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Summer 2018 Sunshine Collection
Application wise – these were all really nicely done. I didn’t have any self leveling issues and most were perfect in just 2 coats. The toppers and 2 other shades needed 3 thin for my application tastes though.
As I mentioned – you do have to be kind of partial to pinks and reds to really love this collection since they went quite heavy with them in this setup. It works for me, since I do love those shades.
