I recently went a little nuts on the Sephora website, so you’ll be seeing my haul over the next few weeks. How nuts did I go? Well, let’s just say I’m now VIB Rouge through to December of 2018. I splurged on palettes, lip glosses, highlighters (they had duochrome ones!) and the Urban Decay Naked Skin The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder.
If we’re being totally honest, I saw the holographic case and that sold me. I’m easy and I’ll buy things on a whim over packaging.
So what is it? The Urban Decay Naked Skin The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder is a pressed beauty powder that can be worn all over as a setting powder or in targeted areas on your face as a sheer wash of highlight. I say ‘sheer wash’ because it doesn’t have the super glowy highlight look. It does brighten the area though. The powder is infused with synthetic white sapphires for a multidimensional, radiant finish.
The powder is finely milled and has the soft, velvety feel and is incredibly lightweight on. When worn on bare skin, it feels almost nonexistent.
I did wear it all over just to see how it worked on me for an all over beauty powder, and the sparkles were a little much for my personal tastes. It wasn’t like Twilight vampire sparkles, but in the sunlight there were some definite obvious sparks going. My unobservant coworker noticed them, so that was enough for me.
Instead I’ve been wearing it in areas I would generally apply highlighter. I actually found I really like this for the “minimal makeup days” better so I can downplay all my makeup and add some highlight that isn’t super obvious, but gives a nice healthy glow. In targeted areas, the sparkle isn’t as obvious as it is when applied all over.
The Urban Decay The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder only comes in 1 shade, which is named ‘Radiant Finish’. It’s not entirely translucent though, so I honestly don’t know how it would look on deeper skin tones. I’m more on the pale side (usually fair to light in powders) and it’s actually a touch darker than my skin.
There is also a sponge applicator under the powder from what I read, but I honestly can’t get my pan to lift to access it. I tried and don’t want to break my nail over a sponge I’ll never use. I prefer fluffy brushes for face powders anyway.
It does still bug me that it’s stuck though.
I know it’s kind of hard to see, but you can catch the sparkles above. and that the powder isn’t completely translucent. It’s a peachy nude shade with itty bitty synthetic white sapphires.
Urban Decay The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder Overview
Ok, so full thoughts on the Urban Decay The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder… I like it. I don’t love it though. Will I repurchase? Probably not. For me personally this doesn’t fall under a “must have” category. If it had less sparkles it would be more viable as an all over face powder for me which would help justify the cost. On the bright side, since I don’t use it as an all over face powder it should last me awhile.
That packaging though, I do love it.
Price: $34.00
