Too Faced Exotic Color Eyeshadow & Shadow Insurance Swatches and Reviews

Our intense shades were created as the must-have accessory to compliment our best-selling eye shadow collections. This alluring spectrum of extravagant shadow textures includes an ensemble of rock-crystal shimmers, velvety hues and irreverent iridescence.

Too Faced Cosmetics is a cosmetic brand that I have loved for a LONG time!  Every time I step into Sephora, I generally stop by the Too Faced section first to take a peek.  Too Faced’s color selection is gorgeous!  From their Brow Envy Kits right down to their Lip Injections!  I’m never disappointed by their products.  When I was sent a few items to review I was ecstatic.  When I received the package I was like a kid in a candy store.  I drove home from work, saw a pretty pink package laying on my door step and KNEW it had arrived.

When I opened the pretty pink box, I was met with pink crinkled paper inside cradling two Exotic Color Eye Shadows in Firefly and Poisoned Orchid, as well as Shadow Insurance Candlelight Softly Illuminating Eye Shadow Primer.  The colors Too Faced sent were perfect for me!  Exactly what I would have purchased if I were to go to Sephora and pick some out myself.

Shadow Insurance Candlelight Eye Shadow Primer is basically a primer you use under eye shadow (shocked?) that helps eye shadow and eye liner adhere to your eyelid longer and generally helps the eye makeup appear more vibrant.  Shadow Insurance Candlelight is a shimmery champagne color that blends in well and leaves a very faint shimmer behind.  I love primers like this because if I’m in a hurry I can sweep a little of this on, add a little liner and mascara and go.  It can be used alone for a faint wash of color and a hint of shimmer, but it can also be used under eyeshadow (as intended).  Shadow Insurance Candlelight felt very light and airy going on, not thick and gunky or sticky.  I placed Shadow Insurance Candlelight onto my eyelid and blended it all the way up to my brow bone (Pictures of completed eye at the end of the post!).

Exotic Color Eye Shadow in Firefly is a gorgeous antique gold shimmer.  Because this is a shimmer, it is not a normal powder eye shadow.  As you use it, it “flakes” a bit, so be ready for that!  There is a bit of fallout, but it was easily cleaned up by sweeping a fluffy powder brush across my skin.  Firefly goes on sheer and the shimmer effect is Firefly’s specialty.  I used Firefly on my lid and on the crease from the inner corner of my eye to the middle of my lid.

Exotic Color Eye Shadow in Poisoned Orchid was right up my alley.  I couldn’t wait to use this one!   Poisoned Orchid is described as a midnight amethyst color.  It is a deep purple eye shadow with shimmer in it, but not the same flakie shimmer that Firefly had.  Poisoned Orchid is more powdery and easier to blend.  Firefly and Poisoned Orchid were nice, and they still blended well together despite the difference in texture.  I had a little trouble getting Poisoned Orchid to “pack on” for a more intense eye look, which was a little disappointing, but it is still a gorgeous color.  I used Poisoned Orchid on the outter V of my eye and in the crease just barely passed the middle of my eye.  I also lined the outer corner on my lower eyelid with Poisoned Orchid.

Here are pictures of the completed look using Shadow Insurance Candlelight, Exotic Color Eye Shadow in Firefly as well as Poisoned Orchid!  I’m no makeup artist, and I never claimed to be, but this is a look I would use for a night out!

Their original Shadow Insurance is great! Candlelight is a nice addition if you want something with a little shimmer!

$18 might be a little too much for me. Out of the two eyeshadows you reviewed, which one would you recommend? I can’t afford both :(

To wear alone, I would definitely go with Firefly. Very soft and pretty!

What i don’t realize is in truth how you
are not actually much more neatly-appreciated than you might be now.
You are so intelligent. You know therefore considerably on the subject of this matter,
made me for my part believe it from a lot of numerous angles.
Its like women and men don’t seem to be involved
unless it’s one thing to do with Lady gaga!
Your own stuffs excellent. Always take care of it
up!

What year did these shadows come out? Are they considered as vintage now?
