Are you a candle lover like I am? If you are, this is definitely a post you want to check out!
I was recently given the opportunity to review a soy candle from The SOI Company, and I am impressed with the company as a whole to be quite honest. From the packaging right down to the candle itself… they did a wonderful job!
The candles themselves are in simple, sleek glass containers. There isn’t too much on the glass itself, other than the SOI emblem. The scent I received is Peppermint Kiss and it’s a very soothing, refreshing scent.
The candle is pretty typical to start. Trim the wick down a bit, light it and make sure its on a heat friendly surface and away from anything that can catch fire (and especially out of the way of children and animals).
SOI Candles are hand-poured using 100%, FDA approved, kosher soy oil and burn cleaner than paraffin-based candles. SOI candles will burn about 140 hours (approximately 40% longer than wax candles), are soot-free and do not emit any harmful toxins (such as Benzene) into your home. Unlike wax, soy oil burns at 106º into a reflective pool of soy that always remains warm to the touch.
Since SOI candles are created from natural soy, the melt pool can also be used as a skin moisturizer that can be massaged into dry or irritated areas. It can also be applied as a soothing remedy to sunburns, eczema, psoriasis, and poison oak.
Of course I tried it… and it wasn’t too bad on my hands! They didn’t give a super greasy moisturizer feel, but soaked in fairly quick and felt softer. Now, don’t get me wrong.. I liked it – but I’m not going to run to burn a candle every time I need moisturizer, but it is a neat addition to the candle experience.
Let’s discuss the packaging now!
The box itself had a more mature look to it and the pattern on the box was simple, but very nice and extremely sturdy.
On each box there is a foil sticker that tells you where it was packaged, who approved it, the net weight and the fragrance blend.
The sticker goes on to tell you the batch number and scent.
As I said earlier, I received my SOI Candle in Peppermint Kiss and it was quite nice. Peppermint Kiss is a mix of peppermint, spearmint and winter green, but it isn’t a powerful scent. It scented the area the candle was in lightly, so you could detect the fragrance, but it didn’t assault your nose when you walk in.
Price: Candles range from $7.50 – $30.00 (Candle shown retails for $27.00)
