Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Plum’s the Word and Fairy Teal Review and Swatches

I came home to some lovely Nail Mail from Sally Hansen Thursday night!  The company sent me 2 Complete Salon Manicure polishes to review as well as 2 Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.  I will be breaking this package into 2 posts to make it a little easier.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is a 5-in-1 polish!  It has Base Coat, Strengthener, Growth Treatment, Color and Top Coat in ONE easy application!  Dry time was amazing in both polishes and I had 2 coats on and dried in 15 minutes.  I was able to get my son ready for bed (getting him in his jammies, 2 stories and LOTS of goodnight hug’s and kisses) 20 minutes after starting my manicure and there isn’t a smudge or smear anywhere!  Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is also made with Patented Vita-Care Technology for advanced wear, more shine, and nourishing care – because it says this is a 5-in-1 I didn’t use a top coat at all so all the shine you see is the formula of the polish!  Best of all?  These polishes are Toluene, DBP, and Formaldehyde FREE!

Now onto the polish!

Plum’s the Word is a muted dirty plum with brown undertones.  It definitely looked more “plum like” in the bottle, but I do like the shade it dried to.  Plum’s the Word is definitely an office appropriate shade for any one and would work with just about any skin color!  Lucky for me, my office doesn’t have a “polish code” so I don’t have limitations on color, but I know a few companies do have these limitations!  I had the urge to add dots of Fairy Teal on an accent nail and I love the colors together!

Fairy Teal is a lovely deeper teal color.  Most teal shades I have lean to the brighter side, so it is nice to have a deeper shade as more options if I’m in a teal mood!  Fairy Teal is a vibrant color and I find it to be an excellent Fall Color!  Fairy Teal also works excellent as a stamping color (for those of you stamper ladies!) and shows up really well over darker colors.  It’s always good to have colors in your collection that can be used as both a base color and a design color!  I wanted to use Plum’s the Word for a design on my ring finger but my hands were shaky and it came out awful :(  I removed the color from my ring finger and the teal discolored my finger a little.  Usually I use Hydrogen Peroxide and a soft bristle tooth brush to remove, but I’m out of Hydrogen Peroxide so I left it (it isn’t super dark discoloring but it’s still there).  This is common with most Teal/Blue colors I own.

This is my first time using Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish and just based off of these two colors, I would be very happy to purchase more in the future.  The application of both polishes were smooth and hassle free.  Plum’s the Word and Fairy Teal came with wide brushes that I have fallen in love with.  When I first look at them, it seems scary and I think “I am going to get this everywhere..” but the brush is easier for me to control and I can cover each nail in 2 swipes!  No brush strokes visible either!  I’ve only found 2 companies now that carry these wide brushes and I would be THRILLED if more companies were to follow suit!

After testing Plum’s The Word and Fairy Teal out, I can honestly say I will purchase more Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes in the future.  The formula on the two I received are excellent and seems like a real steal for the price!  Both polishes were well pigmented and were almost completely opaque in one coat, I used 2 in both mani’s for good measure though!

Keep an eye out later today for my review on Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips!

I totally agree with you! I love that she adds little designs now and then. My favorite is when she does the flowers :)

I should try the base and top coat, I never have! Are the dry times good on them? The colors are fabulous! Thank you!
