Happy Friday! I am working on getting this post up early, and planned on a few days ago – but I still have 5 items I am waiting on to show up… but it looks like those won’t be arriving until early next week – so it’s time to get this show on the road. We’re going to be taking a look at the offerings I was sent for the Polish Pickup September 2022 shop and the theme this time is Scary Vibes!

There are 2 guarantees with Polish Pickup themes…. July will always be Rewind, and September will always be geared towards Halloween.

For the Polish Pickup September 2022 Scary Vibes theme I received 58 items so far and 5 are in transit that I’m aware of. Fedex is holding By Dany Vianna, Indie by Patty Lopes and Penelope Luz in customs still, Vapid Wax and Luna Wax are in USPS hell making their way here. So once they arrive – I will pop them in here.

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Sweet & Sour Lacquer and Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.

I do use artificial lighting for my photos. I work during the day and weekend afternoons I’m with Nick and Jacob, so I do most swatching when the sun is setting or gone. My current setup uses GlamCor Pro LIghts and I use the Ultra X Model and this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).

For Glow In The Dark polishes I used this UV flashlight to “charge” my nails for photos (affiliate link)

Inspiration: Inspired by a picture of the Harvest Moon!

Description: Harvest Moon is a blue to black multichrome base loaded with red to pink to orange to yellow multichrome magnetic pigment and silver holographic micro flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I only magnetized the middle 2 nails so you can see it worn both ways.

Fizzies by All Mixed Up Lacquers | Skulls

Inspiration: Inspired by Photo of a skeleton with glittery insides

Description: Nourish your hands and feet with this scary cute foamimg skull shaped fizzy with pink and gold shimmer paint splatter.

This is like a bath bomb for your hands or feet! Simply drop the fizzy skull into warm water, soak your hands or feet for 5-10 minutes to give a nice nourishing boost. Due to oils and such this can make surfaces slippery – so be careful when walking after.

This is scented in Crisp Fall Apple, which smells exactly like it sounds! Nice juicy red apple with just a hint of spice that’s nice and light.

Ingredients: Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Kaolin Clay, Buttermilk Powder, Almond Oil, Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil, Polysobate 80, fragrance and/or mica

Description: Scary, Sparkly Skeletons is a scattered holographic gray crelly base with holographic flakes, white and black hex glitters, multiple colors of micro holographic glitters, and bits of iridescent flakes and hex glitter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Each bottle comes with a small baggie of skull glitters.

Depending on the thickness of your coats, you may need a glitter smoother or 2 coats of top coat to get a smooth finish.

Inspiration: There’s an urban legend in Korea that if you go to sleep with the fan or AC blowing on you, you won’t wake up. This polish is inspired by all the times I stayed at my grandmother’s, and I woke up in the middle of the night to see a shadow creeping through my room to turn my fan off, having no idea if it was a ghost or my grandmother

This will dry with a mild texture and you may need 2 coats of top coat to smooth.

Description: The Spirit Flame is a neon yellow leaning orange crelly base with strong pink to blue shimmer and micro shreds, as well as iridescent flakes in purple, blue orange and pink, plus it glows blue in the dark. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

While this is a Glow in the Dark, I was not aware until well after photos were done. If I have time this weekend I will update with a GITD photo

Dreamland Lacquer | FINAL GIRL

Inspiration: Inspired by the first and best final girl, Laurie Strode from Halloween!

Description: FINAL GIRL is a thermal polish – but it’s on the more subtle side and it’s a deep moody shade. This is a crelly based, murky deep bluish grey when cold, and a medium-deep blurple when warm, packed with blue to purple iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

You can see the transition best in my macro shot. This is a more subtle shift but I love that both shifts are vampier.

Inspiration:

Description: Glisten & Glow top coat is perfect for nail art and stamping and is a long lasting glassy quick dry top coat.  I’ve been using the top coat for 8 years now and it’s never failed me. It dries fast, has a very glossy, high shine and floats well over nail art.

This top coats dries fast (about 4 minutes on me) and glows under blacklight. Also pairs beautifully with G&G Glitter Grabber if you picked that up in previous shops.

Description: Red Eyed Lacquer is bringing her cuticle oil to the September shop in a click dispensing brush pen! This oil is scented in a house blend of pumpkins, apples and baked pie crust and it smells just like delicious pie!

The click pen has 4ml of oil in it and I really like this style of pen. Oil comes out almost effortlessly.

STELLA CHROMA | Ghost

Inspiration: Inspired by the album art Phish’s Live Album from 11/17/97. Ghost is one of my favorite Phish songs and this version is my favorite!

Description: Ghost is a vivid purple jelly base with silver holographic glitter, holo flakes and strong pink shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Emulsified Sugar Scrub by STELLA CHROMA | Gummy Worm

Inspiration: Inspired by Gummy worms (especially the pineapple-flavored ones!) are my favorite non-chocolate Halloween candy. It was a no-brainer for a spooky PPU theme!

Description: Stella Chroma’s Emulsified Sugar Scrub is an incredibly fine particle sugar that’s densely packed in. Dig a little out of the jar, massage into your hands then rinse and keep rubbing it in while rinsing. Your hands will feel smooth, soft and incredible.

A combination of orange, strawberry, raspberry, lemon, and peach with a hint of sugary sweetness is mixed in with our luxe emulsified sugar scrub formula.

I brought this into work and had a couple people smell it and they all knew immediately that it was gummy worm without knowing the name. It smells that dead on like the candies.

Acetone Additive by Sweet & Sour Lacquer | Chocolate Fear-Mint

Inspiration: Inspired by Mint chocolate

Description: This nourishing and deliciously smelling acetone additive is perfect to combat the harshness of pure acetone. Shake the additive vial to incorporate the oils with the water (it’s magic!), and then pour the entire 30ml (1fl oz) into 6-8oz of acetone.

You can start with a lower additive to acetone ratio if you’d like, and then add a little more at a time until you reach your desired moisturizing effect. You can also add a few drops of this acetone additive to your acetone in a separate container using the included twist top, if you prefer to work with smaller amounts.

I have slightly smaller pumps now with different types of remover in them, so depending on the remover I add a little at a time until I get the desired additive amount. The drip tip makes it so easy to use and pour!

The scent reminds me of those mint meltaway chocolates!

But I think my top picks have to be By Dany Vianna - THAT Wicked Witch and MTK - Gray Lady Down, they're so unique and I have nothing like them in my collection. Also definitely going to be picking up Sweet & Sour's acetone additive, mint chocolate is my favorite scent, and probably going to grab their polish too. The Salad Fingers ref totally unlocked some memories for me.

So many gorgeous polishes this month! All the makers really outdid themselves with this theme. I'd buy one of each if I could afford it So far I've narrowed it down to 5 can't live withouts; Cattails, HtB, DRK, Vanessa Molina and Clianadh! But I doubt I'll have enough self control to leave it at those 5 lol.

These are all amazing swatches of almost all of the polishes for PPU this September!! It’s making it even harder for me to narrow down which ones to get with my budget coz there’s so many beautiful ones! But I know I’m definitely getting Kbshimmer & Bluebird, I’m on the fence with everything else coz it’s I also wanted sweet&sour, cameo colours, ethereal & polished for days. Wish me luck! I'm going through my polish and I have one from Black Dahlia Lacquer labeled "Etheral Dreams" "Sept 2022 PPU" and I can't find swatches of it anywhere. I've even looked for it as "Ethereal Dreams" and I can't find anything. Do you know why that is? Do you have swatches of it?
