OPI Spring 2017 Fiji Collection

Tonight I have the OPI Spring 2017 Fiji Collection to share with you!

OPI sent out the Infinite Shine versions of the Fiji collection, but from what I can tell they are the same as the normal lacquers for this collection. However, I do find the application can be different and I prefer the application of the Infinite Shines to the normal ones. The brushes are wider and overall I have less issues. The lovely Karen over at ManiGeeks has the lacquer version of the OPI Fiji Collection, so pop on over there and check them out for that formulation. I do find her and I to generally be in agreement on application. She will also have a comparison post up tomorrow Karen’s comparison post is up too, so check it out HERE. So if you want to see how these stack up to previous shades, make sure you take a look.

As far as Infinite Shine polishes, they are a sort of hybrid gel that doesn’t require the UV light. Originally I was a fan of the polishes themselves, but the top coat was lifting some of the color for me. That actually has changed and there is a new and improved ProStay primer and top coat to use by OPI and I much prefer it. Of course you don’t HAVE to have this top and base coat to use these, but they are suppose to prolong the Infinite Shine polishes wear time. I don’t notice much of a difference as I’m pretty hard on my hands.

So long story short, these color should be the same as the normal ones, but the consistency or application may be different if you chose to buy the normal lacquers.

On with the show!

OPI Getting Nadi On My Honeymoon

OPI Getting Nadi On My Honeymoon is a medium cool toned pink. I used 2 coats and top coat for these photos.

OPI Two-Timing The Zones

OPI Two-Timing The Zones is a warm toned medium candy pink. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI Living On The Bula-Vard!

OPI Living On The Bula-Vard! is a vibrant medium coral creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. This shade is bright without being in the neon territory.

OPI Polly Want A Lacquer?

OPI Polly Want A Lacquer? is a stunning lavender creme. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI No Tan Lines

OPI No Tan Lines is a bright tangerine orange creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I’m actually really loving this color.

OPI Exotic Birds Don’t Tweet

OPI Exotic Birds Don’t Tweet is a sunny, vibrant yellow that didn’t give me lobster hands! I really love this shade of yellow, however this required 3 coats and had some self leveling issues.

OPI Is That A Spear In Your Pocket?

OPI Is That A Spear In Your Pocket? is a gorgeous medium teal. It’s a touch greener in person, but not by much on me. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I didn’t experience any staining with this shade, but I did have base coat on so that’s not to say it won’t if you skip base coat or use a bad one.

OPI Suzi Without A Paddle

OPI Suzi Without A Paddle is one of those shades that I think OPI nails each time. This is a light minty blue creme. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Because it’s a pastelish color, I did float the coats on and had no issues. I know with some of their shades like this, if I don’t float the coats on (basically use a really light hand) then I will have patches.

OPI Super Trop-i-cal-i-fiji-istic

OPI Super Trop-i-cal-i-fiji-istic… I think I spelled that right. OPI Super Trop-i-cal-i-fiji-istic is a medium, slightly dusty blue creme. It didn’t want to photograph though. In person it’s slightly darker and more dusty.  A lovely blue for sure though.

I used 2 coats and top coat for these photos.

OPI Do You Sea What I Sea?

OPI Do You Sea What I Sea? is one of the 2 non creme shades in the collection. This is a medium blue with intense turquoise shimmer that gives it a glowy and almost metallic quality. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI Coconuts Over OPI

OPI Coconuts Over OPI is a light, creamy tan. This shade compliments me well for a neutral shade, and I thought it was a nice one to add into the mix for this collection. While I doubt it’s super unique, it’s still pretty,

2 coats and top coat were used for these photos.

OPI I Can Never Hut Up

OPI I Can Never Hut Up is a medium grey creme with green shimmer. The shimmer is noticeable under staged lighting or bright sunlight, but in normal lighting it kind of goes unnoticed. It’s disappointing as it’s really pretty with the shimmer. I had some minor brush strokes visible with this shade, and it didn’t self level all that well.

I used 2 coats and top coat for these photos.

OPI Spring 2017 Fiji Collection Overview

OPI Spring 2017 Fiji Collection

Overall, this is a nice color palette for Spring. Application wise, I had very few issues either but I find that typical with the Infinite Shine formulas. That’s mainly why I suggest visiting Karen over at ManiGeeks review of the OPI Fiji Collection since she has the full lacquer collection. In general her assessment of the polishes are fairly in line with my thoughts, and since we have 2 different formulations of the collection it can help you decide which version to get if you like a shade. Also, don’t forget Karen will have a comparison post of these up tomorrow in case you want to take a look and not dupe anything you might already have.

These shades are also available in the OPI GelColor formula if gel is more your thing.

Price: $12.50 Each

Thanks for these! Haven’t seen the infinite shines swatched anywhere else and this is super helpful, esp as a couple that made me go nope when I saw Karen’s swatches of the regular line are making me curious in this formula.

You’re welcome! I did see the regular line had very different formulas in comparison to the IS line, but I noticed that in other IS shades I’ve worn. They typically seem to have a slightly thinner formula that’s easier to work with for me

Too bad the shimmer in I Can Never Hut Up hides in normal lighting, because it looks very pretty.

I don’t own any of the infinite shine polishes and as I think about not many regular OPIs. But the coral and teal are pretty!

The orange and neutral shades look really good. The blues also add a nice pop to any clothes.

These all look beautiful on you, your swatches are just stunning! It’s a shame to see OPI go in heavy on the cremes yet again, but I never hut up is slightly more interesting. Shame that the shimmer gets lost in normal lighting

I have yet to try a yellow on my nails but it looks so pretty. I live the orange too and that is a color I usually include in my wardrobe. Sounds like something to try in the spring time.

There are some really nice bright shades here! Loving the yellow, the teal, the blue and the mint A LOT! Your swatches are beautiful and the self-leveling issues of some of them are not at all visible!

These colors are incredible! I would love to have …. them all! While they are mostly all regular colors, there is something new about them – bright, but a little warmer, or, to the contrary, colder than I sometimes see – definitely a new collection. Opi is the best nail polish!
