Happy Friday! What better way to kick off your Friday than with an OPI review as well as a giveaway? Well read on to see my thoughts on the OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades for 2015 and then enter to win a set of your own.
This is my second time using the OPI Infinite Shine line, and if you remember my previous OPI Infinite Shine review, I was impressed with the application and formula. The colors weren’t anything dramatically different in comparison to other polishes I own, but this is OPI’s gel hybrid collection. What is the difference between OPI Infinite Shines and OPI GelColors?? Infinite Shine shades do not require a light system to cure, but the top coat does harden and “cure” overtime in natural lighting. You don’t need to do the soak method to remove either.
Much like gels though, the OPI Infinite Shine line is a 3 step system – primer (base coat), color and then gloss (top coat). They are a bit longer lasting than normal nail lacquer, but not as long lasting as actual gel polishes. I get about 6 days of chip free wear when I use these (and I tried them a few times now since I received my first samples back in March)
Ok, so let’s get a move on with this collection. There are 6 shades in the OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015, and as the collection name suggests – they are softer shades geared towards Spring (when they originally released) but are also good for palette cleansing shades or bases for nail art.
Beyond The Pale Pink
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection Beyond The Pale Pink Swatch
Beyond The Pale Pink is an incredibly pale pink. In most cases it looks like a white creme until you hold it up next to a white creme, then you can see the subtle pink tint to it. I used 2 coats for these photos. I had some minor self leveling issues with this shade.
Non-Stop White
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection Non-Stop White Swatch
Non-Stop White is the pure white creme in the collection. While I appreciate a good white, this one was a little troublesome for me. It applied like you would expect a pastel color to apply. Slightly uneven, a little streaky and it didn’t want to self level. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Pearl Of Wisdom
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection Pearl Of Wisdom Swatch
Pearl Of Wisdom is one of my favorites from this collection. It’s a white base with silver shimmer that gives a subtle sparkle. While I like the look of it, the formula was thick and didn’t want to self level. Seems to be a theme with these shades this time around. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Go To Grayt Lengths
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection Go To Grayt Lengths Swatch
Go To Grayt Lengths is a pale grey base with strong silver shimmer mixed in. Application wise – this was fabulous. Applied nicely, self leveled nicely – but I don’t know that I like it. I don’t hate it, but it’s not going to be a shade I reach for much. I think if the shimmer was more subtle I would like it more. I used 2 coats for these photos.
The Beige Of Reason
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection The Beige Of Reason Swatch
The Beige Of Reason is a shade I didn’t think I would care for in the bottle, but I actually do like it on. It’s a sheer peachy nude that works well with my skintone. I did use 3 coats for these photos, but 1 coat alone makes it look like I’m wearing nothing, but have perfect nails. It’s not an exciting color, but nice for the “my nails but better” look if you are going for the natural look.
Eternally Turquoise
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection Eternally Turquoise Swatch
Eternally Turquoise is my top pick of the 6. It’s a pale minty blue and I only needed 2 coats for these photos. Application was good and it reminded me of the formula from the original release of Infinite Shines.
OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades 2015 Collection Overview
So overall with this collection, I wasn’t overly impressed. I wasn’t severely disappointed – just not impressed. Eternally Turquoise, Beyond The Pale Pink, Pearl of Wisdom and The Beige Of Reason were good for me color wise, but 2 of those 4 gave me some problems applying. I think the first release of the Infinite Shines spoiled me, as I had amazing application and formula with all 6 of those, so I feel like the formula of these Soft Shines let me down a bit.
