When I was younger, for some reason I was under the impression that once you hit 20, acne was gone forever. I’m not even kidding. I really thought that once you were an adult it would *poof* go away. Boy was I wrong. I’m now 34 and still experiencing acne. Some days are better than others, but it’s still in full force and it’s irritating.
Skincare has come a long way since I was a kid with these silly thoughts of magically perfect skin. The beauty aisle is MUCH larger and the selection is more refined for different types of skin. Light therapy is also a thing now to improve your skin, and Neutrogena has a new Light Therapy Acne Mask, which I got the chance to try.
I know, it looks different. My son got a good giggle when I first brought it out and thought it was for Halloween.
Neutrogena’s new Light Therapy Acne Mask is clinically proven to clear breakouts and clear skin by using light therapy. Light therapy is clinically proven and an effective acne technology used by dermatologists for over a decade.
The energy from the red and blue lights gently filter through your skin and have been scientifically shown to target acne-causing bacteria, reducing the appearance of breakouts.
The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask is easy to use. Wash and dry your face first to remove any makeup or oil residue. Leave your skin clean and fresh (no moisturizers or serums) then:
1 – Put on Your Mask.
2 – Activate Your Mask with the click of a button
3 – Wear for Ten Minutes
Done.
The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask is lightweight and comfortable to wear. It contains an eye shield and a viewing slot so you can actually go about normal tasks if you need to. I prefer to slip it on and lay back and relax for 10 minutes, but since I’m a mom that rarely happens, so usually I tuck the activator in my pocket and do some cleaning or laundry.
The mask fits on like eyeglasses and the inside is decked out in red and blue lights. I mentioned earlier, but the energy from the red and blue lights filter through your skin and target acne-causing bacteria which reduces the appearance of breakouts.
Blue Light – Targets acne-causing bacteria
Red Light – Reduces acne inflammation
The activator (the little remote looking object) has a port for the cord on the mask to plug into and has a treatment countdown. Each activator works for 30 ten minute sessions and once used up, you keep the same mask but purchase a new activator to use. Activators are $19.99 and can be found (along with the mask) at your local Rite Aid.
Neutrogena’s Light Therapy Acne Mask is meant for those with mild to moderate acne. If you have severe acne or no acne at all, it’s not recommended.
The Neutrogena Acne Light Therapy Mask will be available in Rite Aid stores beginning in November and will retail for $39.99 which includes the mask and one activator.
What do you think? Is this something you would try?
