I have a new China Glaze collection on the blog tonight! Usually I receive them from PR, but I hadn’t seen an email for it yet and didn’t want to wait (we don’t always get every collection) so I went ahead and purchased the My Little Pony X China Glaze Collaboration Collection just in case… and I’m not all that disappointed that I did. It’s nostalgic, so I wanted it!
The My Little Pony X China Glaze Collaboration Collection is a 12 piece collection with special brush caps on them that have the My Little Pony logo as well as words like Generosity, Kindness, Magic, etc. Very cute. The words are actually ON the caps too, not a plastic wrap.
There is also 2 Collector’s Edition Duo sets, but I only purchased 1 of them. It will be in a future post. The set I didn’t buy contains My Little Pony nail decals as well as 2 of the shades in the main collection. The set I purchased has Best Friend Rings as well as 2 shades in it NOT in the collection (which is why I grabbed it) so technically I guess there are 14 shades in the collection.
Let’s take a look at the 12 main shades in the My Little Pony X China Glaze Collaboration Collection!
China Glaze I Sea Ponies
China Glaze I Sea Ponies is a silver holographic with a chrome finish. The holo isn’t super strong with this, but it’s more obvious in person than it is in my photos. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat. Application was good, but because it’s chrome you do need to wait for the first coat to be completely dry before applying the second.
China Glaze Cutie Mark The Spot
China Glaze Cutie Mark The Spot is a pastel like mint creme that leans heavily into green. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
China Glaze Hay Girl Hay!
China Glaze Hay Girl Hay! is a shimmery iridescent microfleck topper. It has shifts of gold to aqua to lavender. I enjoy it and loved it layered over Cutie Mark The Spot. Shown is 1 coat.
China Glaze Applejack Of My Eye
First off, this isn’t color accurate. I had a lot of issues photographing this one.
China Glaze Applejack Of My Eye is a red leaning fuchia-ish creme. It’s a bit redder in person. I used 2 super easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
China Glaze Let Your Twilight Sparkle
China Glaze Let Your Twilight Sparkle is another iridescent fleck topper! This one is super sheer blue base with iridescent flecks mixed in that are primarily blue with shifts of violet and pink. I used 1 coat over Applejack Of My Eye.
China Glaze I Just Canterlot
This totally reminds me of indie polish! China Glaze I Just Canterlot is a violet jelly base packed with silver holographic microglitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. 2 coats of top coat might be necessary for a completely smooth touch, depending on your top coats thickness.
China Glaze Where’s The Party Canon At?
China Glaze Where’s The Party Canon At? is a raspberry jelly base with silver holographic glitters mixed in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Much like I Just Canterlot, you might need 2 layers of top coat to smooth.
China Glaze One Polished Pony
China Glaze One Polished Pony is a medium aqua creme with silver shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The first coat went on rather patchy, but it built up nicely and evenly.
China Glaze Too Busy Being Awesome
China Glaze Too Busy Being Awesome is a cerulean blue creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
My photos aren’t completely color accurate for this. It’s slightly darker in person.
China Glaze Kill ‘Em With Kindness
China Glaze Kill ‘Em With Kindness is a soft yellow creme. It’s slightly lighter in person and a really beautiful yellow. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
China Glaze She’s A Mane-iac
China Glaze She’s A Mane-iac is a medium hot pink satin with pink shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Sweet As Pinkie Pie
Sweet As Pinkie Pie is a slightly peach toned baby pink creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
My Little Pony X China Glaze Collaboration Collection Overview
My Little Pony is very nostalgic for a lot of people, especially those like me who grew up in the 80’s! I like how China Glaze handled this collection and the softer shades really go with it for me. While I no longer have my figures, they had lighter, pastel like bodies and brighter, bold manes – so the mix of colors works for the collaboration.
Application wise, these were actually really good. Some of the pastelish shades needed 3 thin coats, which is common, but I didn’t have patchy issues I normally would with pastels or lighter shades. The only one that went on slightly patchy was One Polished Pony.
Some of these shades reminded me of indie polishes. Primarily I Just Canterlot and Where’s The Party Canon At? with the jelly bases and holo glitters. I remember they had some jelly based shades in the Holiday 2015 Cheers Collection, but the jelly bases were really sheer and I wasn’t a huge fan. This time around, the jelly bases were really well done and I actually really loved them.
My Top Picks: Hay Girl Hay!, I Sea Ponies (cause holo!), Kill ‘Em With Kindness, I Just Canterlot, Where’s The Party Canon At? and Let Your Twilight Sparkle.
The My Little Pony X China Glaze Collaboration Collection will be available at Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply and other fine salons for $7.50 each

I will have Songbird Serenade to share with you soon, as it has 2 colors that aren’t from the main 12 polishes. One Polished Pony has She’s A Mane-iac and One Polished Pony in it.
So what are your thoughts? Are you going to be purchasing this collection for nostalgia’s sake?
