Lacquer Lust Velvet Rope, Pining Over You, Chiffon and I’ve Been A Good Unicorn Swatches & Review

I was sitting at work the other day when a package arrived.  I’ve been on a no buy for the most part, and I wasn’t expecting anything from this particular indie, so I was rather surprised to see this gift arrive!

I received Lacquer Lust Velvet Rope, Pining Over You, Chiffon and I’ve Been a Good Unicorn, plus a few other goodies you’ll see in an upcoming post.  I put Chiffon on first and thought “Oh, this is DEFINITELY going on the blog!!”

Velvet Rope, Chiffon & Pining Over You are matte shades, but for the none matte lovers, I top coated them (and they look pretty darn good that way too!) and I’ve Been A Good Unicorn will be a Limited Edition release for December.

Chiffon

Before I start, take a moment to really look at how smooth and brush stroke free this shade is… it has no issues at all and hugs the nail perfectly.

Chiffon is the unexpected favorite.  This is a pale ivory with incredibly delicate and subtle shimmer that flashes blue and pink.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

This is a favorite for a few reasons.  1 – look at it.  2 –  perfect nail art base and 3 – look at it again.

This is in it’s intended state, but underneath there will be top coated photos.

Chiffon With Top Coat

It looks just as good with top coat.  I think I found my HG nude polish.

Velvet Rope

Next we have Velvet Rope which has the same flawless application.  This is a shimmery red matte shade and I used 2 coats for these photos.

Pining Over You

Pining Over You is the final matte shade in this post.  This is a dark forest green shimmery matte.  Again, flawless and absolute perfection.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

I’ve Been A Good Unicorn

I’ve Been A Good Unicorn is a Limited Edition polish for December.

This is a clear base packed with holographic silver micro glitter and small red and green glitters mixed in.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

Overview

This was an unexpected, but very appreciated gift.  The mattes are just… phenomenal!  Application wise, perfection.  I’m still stuck on the whole no brushstrokes thing, plus they self level incredibly well.  On top of that, they don’t dry super fast, so you have time to apply it without rushing.  I’ve Been A Good Unicorn is sparkly and beautiful as well, and I love that it’s so perfect for Christmas.

I definitely need to pick up more mattes though when this no buy is over!

If you haven’t tried Lacquer Lust yet, I would recommend doing so.  I remember trying to buy the Gemstone holos but they sold out before I could and now I regret not going back and checking religiously for them.

I do have one more Lacquer Lust to show tomorrow, and it’s part of the indie collaboration they did with Polished by KPT and Serum No 5.
