Fun Stud Nail Art with Born Pretty Store

by Lisa Heath

I recently had a chance to play around with some Born Pretty Store nail studs in 2 different styles, black stud rhinestones and silver star studs.  The stars were by far my favorite, but they were both easy to use.

Silver Star Studs

Star Studs

The silver star studs are pretty self explanatory.  They are small silver stars.  I’m not a hugely imaginative person when it comes to nail art, but I am trying to push myself to do more and more.  Here is what I came up with…

BPS Stars 2

Shooting stars!  I painted my nails black with Mentality Rascal, then I did random swipes of Mentality Pinnacle for the shimmery effect, placed a Born Pretty Store silver star stud at the end of the shimmer (I secured it in place with top coat).  For the pinkie I painted the entire nail with Pinnacle and placed a star right in the center.

Of the 2 mani’s I did, this was by FAR my favorite!

Black Stud Rhinestones

Black Studs

The black stud rhinestones are 1.5 mm and they are small, but not too small.  I had so many ideas for these and none were panning out.  At all.  Not because of the studs, but because I am a klutz.

For this manicure I painted my nails with Mentality Rascal and then did a stripe down each nail using Mentality Tough.  I top coated with Mentality Fab and then added 4 black stud rhinestones down the center stripe.  I did 6 manicures using these studs, and this was my favorite of the 6.

To place I used a dotting tool, dipped the end into a little top coat and “grabbed” the top of the stud and gently laid it down in place on the nail (top coat on nail was still tacky so it would stick).  I was able to complete the studs quickly like this.

Overview

I was quite please with my first experience with Born Pretty Store!  The studs worked well, and hopefully in time I will get a little more creative when it comes to nail art.  The stars were my favorite, and I immediately had a shooting star mani in mind for them!

You go, girl! I love both manis, but I think the round stud one is my fave. I have those studs, too! I just got a bunch of water decals to review for Born Pretty Store. So much nail art fun goodness.

Such a fun mani! I’d love to try studs, but thing is, I have a bad habit of picking anything attached to my nails.

I fail at using a dotting tool to place studs. I don’t know why, it seems so easy for everyone else!

So cute. I have tried to tackle studs before and failed. My nails are such stubbies though.

I love both designs! I’m such a clutz when it comes to studs, so it always amazes me when people can make those manis look super neat :)
