Winter 2016 Collection

Can’t believe it’s almost Winter. The weather is finally feeling like Fall around here and now we’re only about a month away from Winter! It is that time though, and the Winter collections are rolling in, so today we will be taking a look at the Essie Winter 2016 Collection!

This is a 6 piece collection, which is pretty standard for Essie. That’s one thing I’ve always kind of liked – I always know how many colors they will put out for a seasonal collection. When I received these 6, I really liked the chosen shades. A few moreso than others.

Let’s take a look

Essie Winter 2016 Collection – Ready To Boa

Starting this off with one of my top picks. Ready To Boa is a deep reddish brown with coppery shimmer throughout. I did 2 easy coats for these photos. This does have a slightly more Fall feel to it, but it’s honestly a color I could wear year round.

Essie Winter 2016 Collection – Party On A Platform

Party On A Platform is a dark, slightly dusty cool red. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Essie Winter 2016 Collection – Oh Behave!

Essie Oh Behave! is another favorite from this collection. This is a lovely medium peach creme base with gold shimmer that gives it such a beautiful glow. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Essie Winter 2016 Collection – Getting Groovy

Getting Groovy is a gold foil finish shade. I used 2 coats for these photos and no top coat.

Essie Winter 2016 Collection – Satin Sister

Satin Sister is a deep peacock blue creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Satin Sister didn’t want to photograph for me. I got fairly close to the color, but there is more green in it in person. It also had a case of ugly bottle syndrome and no matter how much I tried to shake it up, it was still there. If you look at my photo at the bottom, it’s greener than the rest? Not sure if that’s normal or settling or just weird separation – but my bottle had it.

Essie Winter 2016 Collection – Go With The Flowy

Go With The Flowy is another top pick. This is a lovely dove grey creme with subtle pink and blue shimmers. In the bottle, the shimmer is more obvious, and while it’s not as standout on the nail, it is still there. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Essie Winter 2016 Collection Overview

Essie Winter 2016 Collection

I’ve got several mainstream Winter 2016 collections being worked on, and I do have to say – they all seem really different from each other. In previous years, a lot of the mainstream collections seemed very similar and predictable, but this year? Nope. I actually really like it that way and it makes me feel like I need everything! As for the Essie Winter 2016 Collection? I found it to lean on the more traditional side, but with shades like Oh Behave! it still had some surprises (you don’t always see a peach shade in Winter!)

My top picks: Ready To Boa, Oh Behave! and Go With The Flowy

Price: $8.50 Each

I haven’t heard of Essie before. But then I don’t wear nail polish. :) The Party of Platform is a gorgeous color.

Love the Satin Sister, love to mix blues with blacks, browns and greens to make elegant looks and go from day to night without changing polish. Thanks for mentioning number of coats used, so helpful for me.

I think the BOA is my favorite. It almost has a burgundy look to it. It could be pretty paired with gold too though!
