Color4Nails Crystalline Nail Veil Review

Tonight I have a fun little nail art assistant that is completely new to the Color4Nails shop. Crystalline Nail Veil!  This is a multi-purpose nail product. Makes for easy polish clean up when water-marbling, stamping and doing gradients. The unique nail striper brush also works great to make crisp lines for nail art. Works as a “veil” to protect your skin from polish without the drying effects of cleaning up with pure acetone.

I don’t do a ton of nail art and part of that is the fact that I’m artistically challenged and the other part is that clean up can be a real PITA.

To show you this new product I did a simple, subtle gradient!

Here is the bottle.  It’s a taller, skinnier bottle that was still large enough that holding it was easy

The brush is a little long, on the thinner side but easier to control.  I was able to make a thin, precise line around my nail polish base (you can also apply before the base) and then I brushed a little more on the surrounding skin to make sure I covered a large enough area.  This didn’t take too long and was quite easy.

When you apply the Crystalline Nail Veil, it will be a vibrant yellow shade.  It takes about a full minute to completely dry.

Once dry it is a darker yellow, which is how you will know it’s dry.

Then I went to town using my sponge and did a simple, subtle gradient.

Of course if you do a water marble or a messier nail art task in general, you will want to cover more area.  As you can see – I’m not overly messy with gradients so this covered the right amount for me.

It’s subtle, so I wanted to show an undone nail next to my gradient to show I really did one.  It came out much more obvious in my mind…

Now it’s time to peel off the Crystalline Nail Veil…

This is what I was left with.  Removal was incredibly simple.  I just used an orange stick to gently lift an edge of the Nail Veil and then used tweezers to pull away.  The little lump of yellow above is what I removed.

And done.  No other cleanup and it was incredibly simple to use!

I’m hoping to have a little more time soon so I can use Crystalline Nail Veil to do a water marble with.

For those with Latex Allergies – I do not recommend this product because it contains latex!

There is a latex smell to it as well, for obvious reasons but I didn’t find it offputting or that strong (unless my sniffer is really broken).  While applying it, I noticed the latex scent but it wasn’t bad.

Price: $6.00 for 8ml bottle

I’m definitely going to be using this a lot more, which hopefully means you’ll see more nail art from me in the future (even if it is simpler nail art!)

Is this a product you would use?  I’d love to hear if this is something that interests you in the comments below!

Great review Lisa! I like that it has the skinny brush! I bought a 4 oz jar of the liquid latex and decanted it into a polish bottle and it really does work amazingly well!

I bought the Proclaim stuff but never used it. I love the skinny brush this comes with though.

Thank you! I just recently got gradients down, so I love doing them now

I'm wanting to try one of these latex products. Right now, I just brush on some Elmers Glue (mixed with a little water) around my nail, but I can't get as close with my brush as you could. It does save a lot of time when doing gradients!

The price of other ones always held me back from using it/trying it, but with more reasonable prices and an easy to use brush - this will definitely be used a lot!

There's a similar product out that looks like these except it's white. I LOVE that this is yellow because you can really see it better when applying and when removing it. Genius!
Lisa Heath February 9, 2015 - 9:04 pm
Yes! I tried a glue type base for cleanup once and couldn't see where it dried and that I missed a few spots!

Now that's what I'm talking about. Somehow, I managed to corner myself into future water marbling. Me and my blabberfingers. le sigh This stuff could be a real help to me in my catastrophe.
Lisa Heath February 9, 2015 - 9:01 pm
I love water marbling! I can't wait to try it with that!

It really is!

Okay, I'm almost convinced but I'm noticing a slight discoloration around your nail bed where the nail veil was. Is this due to the product drying on your skin?
Lisa Heath February 9, 2015 - 6:44 pm
No, that's actually just how the skin around my nails are, if you look at the photo with 2 fingers, you can kind of see it on the middle finger that I didn't use Nail Veil on yet :)

That seems like a great product, the brush would be great for drawing nail art designs! I've been using the hair glue from Sally's but I think I need to try out a product like this.
Lisa Heath February 9, 2015 - 8:38 pm
The brush makes it so easy to control and for fine detail. I might actually try a negative space mani now!

Cool concept. I'm nail art ignoramus so this seems like the greatest invention on earth for me, haha
Lisa Heath February 9, 2015 - 10:30 pm
I'm still kind of amazed at how easy this was to use!
Laura MyNewestAddiction February 9, 2015 - 9:22 pm
What the what! this would be perfect for myself. I am always a huge mess when I do my nails.
Lisa Heath February 9, 2015 - 10:29 pm
The cleanup is so daunting sometimes I don't bother. This might get me to do a little more nail art!
