Over the last 2 years I have been asked several times if I had fake nails. No I don’t. My nails are 100% mine and I do all the work to take care of them. I have also been asked through comments and private messages what I use to keep them strong and to clean up the cuticle area, so I decided to do a Best of 2013 Nail Care Brands post. These are items I’ve been using throughout the year to try to keep my nails in decent shape. While they may not be perfect, they are moisturized, strong and have some people wondering if they are real – and I have the following 5 brands to thank!
So here are the Top 5 Nail Care Brands I couldn’t live without in 2013!
Number 5 – Trind Perfect System
I have been recommending Trind Perfect System this whole year to people who ask. It’s on the pricier side, but it’s worth the splurge for me to keep my nails and cuticles in check. I received my first set to review in 2012, but have continued to purchase it after I ran out because it’s that good. Every Sunday I go through the Perfect System routine of application and cuticle cleanup and I will continue to do so until I find something better, but this works so well, I haven’t really been looking for anything “better”.
Price: $79.95

Number 4 – KBShimmer Cuticle Oil Pen, Sugar Scrub and Hand Lotion
I had the opportunity to review (and guest post!) for KBShimmer Bath & Body several months ago, and received her cuticle oil pen, hand lotion, sugar scrub and soap in the scent Pink Sugar. All 4 of these items were amazing, but the cuticle oil pen, hand lotion and sugar scrub really did a fantastic job of keeping my skin looking and feeling amazing. The cuticle oil applies from a pen with a brush tip applicator, which made oiling up my cuticles on the go fast and easy!
Prices: Cuticle Oil Pens are $6.00, Hand Lotion is $10.00 and Sugar Scrub is $10.00

Number 3 – Girly Bits Frazzle Fixer
As you will see in this post, I never stick to just one cuticle oil. I like different ways to apply as well as the different consistencies. Some oils are thicker and give a more intense hydration. Frazzle Fixer smells amazing (I have Cupcake!), soaks in fairly quickly and hydrates really well. Definitely a must have the next time you shop on the Girly Bits site! It comes in a dropper style applicator and is very easy to apply and control.
Price: $6.50

Number 1/2 – Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat, Glis-tics and Nail & Cuticle Balm
I seriously couldn’t decide places 1 and 2, so they tied (which is why it says Number 1/2 next to the name). Glisten & Glow carries a TON of nail, cuticle and hand/foot care items and 3 of my favorites are the Glis-tics Cuticle Oil, Nail & Cuticle Balm and HK Girl Top Coat. Now Top Coat isn’t a “nail care item” but I use it constantly to keep my polish looking fresh and glossy, so I felt it deserved a spot. Glis-tics are roller ball cuticle oils in a variety of scents but the blue frosted glass containers and personalized labels (I have some that say Cosmetic Sanctuary right on the label) make these amazing gifts as well. Presentation is gorgeous and the product is amazing. The Nail & Cuticle Balm are fairly new and are great for overnight hydration if your skin is especially ragged from the weather or paper cuts (which I suffer from a lot).
Prices: Glis-tics are $10.50, Nail & Cuticle Balm are $8.50 and HK Girl Top Coat is $6.95 (Use the code CS10 now through the 31st of December for a 10% discount!)

Number 1/2 – 365 Days of Color Hand Cream, Cuticle Oil and Miracle Balm
Tying with Glisten & Glow for the 1st and 2nd place spot is 365 Days of Color. I religiously use her hand creme (and own about 14 containers), cuticle oils and miracle balms. She sells them full size or in sampler packs so you can get a few at once at an affordable price. The hand creme soaks in quick if used sparingly and she has well over 100 scents to choose from and is always adding more. 365 Days of Color cuticle oil soaks in fast and are in roller ball applicators (and also come in over 100 scents) and the miracle balms aren’t only for nails/cuticles but for any dry area, such as knees and elbows, that need extra moisture or love.
