Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush Review

by Lisa Heath

We’ve all been there at some point.  Wake up a little late and end up rushing around the house to get ready.  Sometimes it’s a day you absolutely CANNOT be late!  You cut corners with some routines and I’ll admit, sometimes shampooing your hair is one of those things (well I can’t cut out brushing my teeth or using deodorant can I?!)  On those days I tie my hair up, jump in the shower, soap up, shave, etc and get out.  If you have an oily scalp like me though, going without washing your hair WILL be noticed.

That’s where Batiste steps in.

Batiste is a dry shampoo made to keep your hair looking and smelling fresh in between washing.  So even if it isn’t a scenario like I mentioned above – this is also good for camping trips or running your kid to school on your day off when you feel like throwing your hair up, pulling on some sweats, dropping them off at school just so you can go back home and crawl into bed.

I received Batiste Dry Shampoo in the scent Blush which is a slightly floral and femine scent.  I liked it, but if you aren’t into florals – Batiste does have other scent options for you!

nozzle

Batiste Dry Shampoo looks like a hairspray can.  It’s an aerosol spray that distributes a white powdery film into your hair where you spray it.  The powder helps to absorb excess oils and leave your hair looking (and smelling) cleaner.

Here are some before, during and after photos:

Baptiste Before

So this is my scalp when I wake up.  I do have oily hair, and this is why I HAVE to wash my hair daily.  Have to.  If I don’t it just gets worse throughout the day.

Baptiste During

So I held Batiste a few inches from my head and sprayed for just a few seconds.  If you use too much you won’t be able to get rid of the white powdery look in your hair (trust me).  If you have dark hair, I would especially recommend you do small, quick bursts of Batiste.

Once in, I massaged my scalp with my fingers to work the product in a bit.  Then I just let it sit and do it’s thing.

Baptiste After

Finally I brushed it out and my hair does look cleaner and less oily.

Now here’s something I will warn about.  This product is made to make your hair look and smell fresher, it may not FEEL cleaner though depending on your hair type.  I have thick hair and I could still feel it hadn’t been washed (not an oily feel, but just not a clean feeling).  This isn’t made to replace washing entirely – it’s just a quick fix if you are running late, need a mid day hair booster, in the great outdoors where showering isn’t always possible or something similar.

Another use I found for it is volumizing your hair.  A few times my (washed) hair looked flat and dull, so I flipped my hair over and sprayed a little Baptiste Dry Shampoo into the roots and worked it in, and it gave my hair a bit more volume (and a pleasant scent!).

Batiste Dry Shampoo comes in several scents if Blush isn’t for you.  They have Cherry, Fresh, Wild and Original.  They also have Dry Shampoo with a hint a color so you don’t have a white film to worry about (especially good for ladies with darker hair!)

Price: Between $6.00 and $8.00 depending on where you buy

Where To Buy:  Check out the Batiste Website for info on which stores carry Batiste

Will I continue to use Batiste Dry Shampoo?  While I may not use it constantly, I will keep Batiste on hand for those unexpected days.  I did like the scent as well as the product itself and find that it does do a good job soaking up most of the oil and giving my hair a light scent.  I would be interested in picking up the Batiste for Brunettes to see the difference as well as in Fresh Scent for a crisper scent instead of floral.

Have you used Batiste?  What did you think?

I’ve been using LUSH’s for awhile (and still like it) but the aerosol can is just tooooo easy and much quicker

What a difference! I love Batiste; sadly I can only use one version – Dark and deep brown, as the lighter powder won’t suit my brunette hair.

I haven’t tried dry shampoo yet. Looks like I’ll have to reserve it for a day when I’m ready to brush all the curls out, though, if you have to comb it through. You think they’d make one with a dark powder for us brunettes!

I sometimes use dry shampoo to texturize my hair, and currently my favorite is Klorane. I don’t think I have tried batiste yet, but I like the idea of it being scented so I may give it a shot.

I’ve STILL not tried a dry shampoo (I know what is wrong with me!?) I must give it a go – I think it would be most handy as a mid day post or if I end up going out straight from work.

Well ya know, your hair is probably very oily BECAUSE you’re washing it every day. Dry shampoo will definitely help in getting you through those unberable times but cutting down will help balance the natural oils!

I’ve tried that before and then I just get an itchy scalp and look like I have bad hygiene. I would much rather just wash my hair daily and deal with a little oil each morning.

I also have naturally oily skin in general. It’s my hair type, it’s my skin type. Not the fact that I shampoo daily
