Tatcha Skin Care Review

by Lisa Heath

For a little over a month now I have been testing out a new skin care regimen and it is a complete HIT for me!

Tatcha is a skincare company that I have grown to adore!  I have 4 of their skincare items to show you today and aside from loving their products… I really loved their packaging too.

Tatcha’s Mission:

Enduring beauty is a culmination of the wisdom of centuries. Having heard that many of the world’s greatest beauty secrets originated with geisha, we explored scientific journals, unearthed historical archives and studied the ageless beauty rituals of the iconic geisha to shed light on a highly evolved approach to beauty.

Our mission is to share with a new generation the inspired approach to a beautiful life that we discover on our journeys East.

Lets take a look at the 4 items I’ve been using for a little over a month and what I liked about each item.

PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil

Tatcha Cleansing Oil Box

To start of my daily routine, I use PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil.  I have never used cleansing oil before, but now I don’t think I can use anything but!  This beautiful blend of camellia and rice bran oil melts away impurities and even waterproof makeup. Skin is left fresh and pure in just 1 step.  I am a mascara junkie, and PURE made even my waterproof mascara just melt away.

Tatcha Pure Cleansing Oil

I like the sleek pump bottle it comes in.  I keep it at my sink and use it every night.  I don’t even need night moisturizer after using it.

It had a light and fresh scent to it and didn’t feel heavy at all.  It washed off easily too, which I was relieved to see.  There are emulsifiers which cause PURE to turn milky when it comes in contact with water and it washed it off quickly and easily with no residue left behind.

Tatcha Pure Cleansing Oil pump

It has a simply pump top under the cap.  Easy to use and I only needed about 4-5 pumps to remove all of my makeup (including waterproof mascara)

Price: $48.00 for 5.1 fl oz

POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powder

Tatcha Polished Box

POLISHED is a water activated enzyme powder made of rice bran, papaya and Hadasei-3 Bioactive Complex.  This is a gentle exfoliator that works amazingly well and leaves your skin soft and smooth.

Tatcha Polished

I took a lot of pictures of the packaging because I really liked the look of it!  This is the container POLISHED comes in.  You can see into the container so you know when you are running low.

Tatcha Polished top

When you unscrew the cap, there is a small slider that you slide back to reveal a small opening to dispense from.

Tatcha Polished hand

I only needed a little bit of product to cover my face.  I added a little water and mixed into a paste, then applied to my face and worked it into my skin in a circular motion.  Once I rinsed off, it left nice, smooth skin behind.  There are different ones you can order depending on your skin type.  I used Classic.

POLISHED comes in Gentle for dry sensitive skin, Classic for normal/combination skin and Deep for oily/acne prone skin.

Price: $65.00 for 2.1 oz

SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream

Tatcha Rich Silk Cream

SUPPLE is a luxurious gel cream made of liquid silk, squalane, royal jelly and Hadasei-3 Bioactive Complex.  This is an incredibly light weight moisturizer that doesn’t leave an oily or heavy feeling on your face.  It soaks in super quick too and leaves my skin soft.

Tatcha Rich Silk Cream Open

I liked this container too!  It has a royal blue velvet tie on the lid with a mini spoon attached to use instead of dipping your fingers into the container.

Price: $150.00 for 1.7 oz

PETAL FRESH Original Aburatorigami (Japanese Blotting Papers)

Tatcha Japanese Beauty Papers

I’ve used beauty papers before, and I can usually take them or leave them.  I have slightly oily skin, so at times they are needed for me, but I usually find it removes makeup in the area I usually blot (the T-Zone).  These papers are all natural leaflets which absorb the excess oil without disturbing makeup. It also doesn’t completely strip your face of all it’s moisture, only the excess.  If you completely strip your face of ALL oils, generally your skin will start to work overtime to replace the lost moisture… which can get messy!

Tatcha Japanese Beauty Papers open

The leaflets are made of the Abaca Leaf and are infused with gold flakes throughout (which you can see in the photo).  These are powder free and fragrance free.

Tatcha Japanese Beauty Papers single

The sheets are actually pretty large, so you can get several uses out of each sheet.

Price: $12.00 for a 30 pack

Overview

This is hands down some of the best skincare I have used.  The price is definitely higher on some items, so it is a luxury brand, but if you want to try items that work well, then it’s worth the splurge.  While I loved SUPPLE, it is hard to work into my budget, so I may have to skip that next time.  I can buy the other 3 items though in a rotation to work it into my budget, and I plan to do so.  My skin has been in great condition since I started using these items, so why stop a good thing?
