OPI Limited Edition MLB Collection Swatches & Review

Press SampleAffiliate Link

OPI is releasing 7 new limited edition nail lacquers this month, inspired by Major League Baseball (MLB).  This is the first ever professional sports league licensing agreement for OPI!

While the shades in this collection aren’t overly exciting, I can see the reason for that.  MLB colors are fairly straight forward as far as blues, reds, oranges.  No neon pinks or fuchsia’s  really to be seen.  So taking that into account, the overall execution of this collection is pretty much spot on for an MLB collection.

Now to be 100% honest, I’m not a sports fan (sorry!) but I can watch it and seem semi competent while doing so.  Years ago it was a joke when we did baseball pools at work because I didn’t know what teams were better, I would pick the teams with the “prettier” uniforms.

I won over $1,800 that year, which was more than everyone else, including those who actually made their picks based on stats and favorite teams.  Go me.

Ok back to the collection, let’s move onto pictures!

OPI Love Athletes Cleats

Love Athletes In Cleats

OPI Love Athletes Cleats is a classic red creme with pale silvery pink shimmer throughout.  I used 2 thin coats for these photos

OPI Right Off The Bat

Right Off The Bat

OPI Right Off The Bat is a frosty navy blue creme.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

OPI Short – STOP!

Short Stop

OPI Short – STOP! is a rich orange leaning red creme.  I used 2 coats for these photos.  This is a thinner formula, so no need to load up the brush with polish or it may pool in your cuticles.  I found the formula easy to work with, but it can definitely be runny if you use too much while applying.

OPI Orange You Going To The Game?

Orange You Going To The Game

OPI Orange You Going To The Game? is a vibrant frosty orange creme.  Brush strokes are fairly visible because of the frosty finish.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

OPI 7th Inning Strrretch

7th Inning Strrretch

OPI 7th Inning Strrretch is a frosty steel blue creme.  I used 2 thin coats for these photos.  Very slight brush strokes are visible and I found that thin coats made the strokes less visible.

OPI Umpires Come Out At Night

Umpires Come Out At Night

OPI Umpires Come Out At Night is a deep midnight blue creme.  I was expecting smurf nails when I removed this, but it didn’t happen.  Yay for blues that don’t stain!  I used 2 thin coats for this shade, but it is a thinner formula like OPI Short – STOP! so you don’t need to load up your brush for application, otherwise you may experience cuticle pooling.

OPI Girls Love Diamonds

Girls Love Diamonds

OPI Girls Love Diamonds is a shimmery pure white.  I used 2 coats for these photos.  This can also be used over other colors in the collection if you just apply 1 thin coat as a topper to give any of them a shimmery white cast.

Overview

As I said earlier, the colors aren’t incredible unique in this collection, but considering the MLB inspiration, they are spot on.  I didn’t experience any major application issues with the formulas other than frosts showing some visible strokes.  OPI Short – STOP! and Umpires Come Out At Night are thinner formulas so they should be applied in thin coats to avoid pooling, but they built up easily in opacity without having to do several coats.  Why an MLB partnership?  Howard Smith, Senior Vice President, Licensing, Major League Baseball said “Major League Baseball understands the importance of female fans in the growth and success of our sport, and so we continuously seek new opportunities to diversify our portfolio of licensed offerings to target this extensive fan base.”

OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection Swatches & Review

Press Sample

MMW OPI

OPI is releasing another Muppets collection!  The Muppets Most Wanted collection consists of mainly softer shades and glitters. These eight new nail lacquers were inspired by the Muppets latest adventures in Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted (which releases March 21st!)

I have all 8 of these shades to show you today, so lets take a look!

OPI Int’l Crime Caper

INTL Crime Caper

OPI Int’l Crime Caper is a soft pearly white with pink shimmer and small iridescent blue flecks within it.  I used 3 coats for this photo and you can still see visible nail line, but I actually really like this shade.  I’ve always loved opal type colors!

INTL Crime Caper side

INTL Crime Caper CU

OPI I Love Applause

I Love Applause

OPI I Love Applause is a very pale milky pink crelly shade.  I used 3 coats for these photos and the formula was sheer and easy to work with for the most part.  I did have a few uneven spots from applying too much pressure with the brush while applying the second coat.

I Love Applause side

I Love Applause CU

OPI Chillin’ Like A Villain

Chillin Like A Villain

OPI Chillin’ Like A Villain is a soft peach creme/crelly.  Much like I Love Applause, it has a sheer but buildable formula.  I used 3 coats for these photos.

OPI Gaining Mole-mentum

Gaining Molementum

OPI Gaining Mole-mentum is actually one of my favorite glitters in this collection.  It is a clear base with gold, silver and pink shred glitters within it.  I used 1 coat over OPI Chillin’ Like A Villain.  I was fairly surprised at how easily it spread on without needed to dab any on or help with placement.  It was really good!

OPI Let’s Do Anything We Want!

OPI Let’s Do Anything We Want! is a clear base with small pink and white hex glitters as well as medium matte white square glitters.  I used 1 coat over OPI I Love Applause.

OPI Kermit Me To Speak

Kermit Me To Speak

Kermit Me To Speak is the duochrome of the collection.  This shifts from a lighter pinky violet to a golden green shade.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos and there were slight brush strokes visible, but overall a nice shade with a decent shift to it.

Kermit Me To Speak side

OPI Miss Piggy’s Big Number

Miss Piggys Big Number

Miss Piggy’s Big Number is a bold, bright blue with shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for these photos, but 2 normal coats would probably have worked just as well.  Some brush strokes are visible, but I really love this shade of blue and will wear it a decent amount.

OPI Muppets World Tour

Muppets World Tour

OPI Muppets World Tour is a densely packed glitter that can be worn over another shade or on it’s own in 3 coats.  First set of pictures I did was Muppets World Tour on it’s own.  This is a clear base with small silver, gold and white glitters and slightly larger multi colored hex glitters. I used 3 coats on its own for this first set of photos.

Overview

Overall I didn’t really have any issues with this 8 piece collection.  Chillin’ Like A Villain and I Love Applause are sheerer shades, but I didn’t really have any streaking issues with them considering the slightly pastel nature of the shades.   While most of the colors are fairly common, I found the glitters to be the stand outs in this collection.

Muppets Most Wanted by OPI nail lacquer shades each feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application. Muppets Most Wanted will be available March 2014, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail.

OPI Spotlight On Glitter Swatches, Reviews and a Couple Comparisons

Press Sample

I’ve been busy busy this weekend!  The other night I reviewed the new OPI Sheer Tints, so be sure to check that post out too!

Spotlight On Glitter Collage

The OPI Spotlight On Glitter collection is a 6 piece glitter top coat collection with various types of glitter.  Do some look familiar?  They probably are.  I will show some comparisons as a few are similar to past collection glitters, so if you missed out on those back then – now is the time to snap them up!

All side by side comparisons are done over OPI Alpine Snow

Desperately Seeking Sequins

Desperately Seeking Sequins

Desperately Seeking Sequins is a delicate glitter topper that is a mix of small silver holographic hex glitters, micro bar glitters and micro glitters.  I used 1 coat over OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook.

Look a little familiar?  I matched it up with Which is Witch? from the OPI Oz Great and Powerful Collection that released March of 2013

I Reached My Gold!

I Reached My Gold

I Reached My Gold! is a clear base with large gold hex glitters, small silver holographic square glitters and small and micro silver holographic hex glitters.  I used 1 coat over OPI Toucan Do It If You Try.  Cute topper, but the gold hexes are slightly curled in the bottle and on the nail.

Look familiar?  This is identical to When Monkeys Fly from the OPI Oz the Great and Powrful Collection that released in March of 2013, curling glitter and all.  Weird thing though?  My When Monkey’s Fly hexes are all perfectly flat now, but weren’t when I got them.

Overview

Aside from the fact that I already own 4 similar polishes from past OPI collections – it is a decent mix of glitter top coats.  If you don’t own the identical ones, you will probably like this collection, and even if you have some of the duplicates – you can save a little cash and only get the ones you don’t have.  I only had application issues with I Reached My Gold! due to curling glitters, otherwise – the remaining 5 applied without issue.

These can be used with Glitter Off – a new, peel-able base coat that allows for quick and easy removal when applied beneath any glitter shade.  To remove, use a cuticle stick to gently push and peel the glitter lacquer off the nail. No nail polish remover is necessary for this final step.

Spotlight on Glitter by OPI nail lacquers feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.  These six glitter shades and Glitter Off will be available March 2014 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

OPI Sheer Tints Swatches, Review and A Little Nail Art

Press SampleAffiliate Link

When I first heard about OPI Sheer Tints I was incredibly curious about them!  I finally got my hands on them, so I’m going to show you them on their own and then in some attempted nail art.

Lets take a look at the colors on their own

I’m Never Amberrassed

I'm Never Amberrassed

I’m going to kick this off with the one I feel shouldn’t be worn on it’s own.  I’m Never Amberrassed is a sheer amber tint.  You can pretty much see that it is sheer and glossy, but it looks like I have serious nail staining.  I will show it to you over white later in the post though.  This is 2 coats on its own.

Over White

Over White

Here are all 4 shades over white.  These can be used over a variety of base colors to tint the base.  I used 2 coats of each Sheer Tint over OPI Alpine Snow.

Watercolor Nail Art

Sheer Tints

I attempted some nail art.  This is kind of a watercolor mix of the sheers over OPI Alpine Snow.  I used randomly added swipes of each sheer tint color over Alpine Snow.

Sheer Tints 2

Overview

I definitely like these over white.  There are different possibilities on how to use them (I did watercolor look because my nail art is very limited).  They are glossy on their own and dry within about 6-8 minutes.  The consistency was similar to a fast dry top coat once you get to close to the middle of the bottle.  It was a little stringy – but still workable.  I was a little scared when I saw them on their own, but layered they are decent.  They are incredibly glossy on their own and don’t require a glossy top coat.

Price: $9.00

Where To Buy: You can find Sheer Tints at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and Amazon
