Milani Color Statement Lipsticks – Plums & Berries – Swatches and Review

Collage

Ready for more lip spam? As I said before, Milani sent 4 sets of lipsticks from their new Color Statement line for me to review! Today is the Plums & Berries set from Milani!  These ones were a little scarier for me to try out!  A few were definite ‘misses’ for my skin tone/preference – but I also found some major ‘HITS’ within this set!

Let’s take a look!

Sangria:

Sangria

Sangria is a favorite from this set!  When my boyfriend saw it he said “Ok, you are wearing that again!”  Sangria is a vibrant berry with strong pink tones.  This is also a matte shade (I love mattes!)

Raspberry Rush:

Raspberry Rush

Another major favorite!  I wore Raspberry Rush to work today and it lasted from 7am until about 3pm before it started to wear off a little.  Raspberry Rush is a vibrant hot fuchsia metallic with purple tones.

I don’t do full face shots often – but here’s a full photo of me wearing Raspberry Rush at work today!

Plumrose:

Plumrose

Plumrose is a pretty safe color from this set!  It’s a rosey cream shade!

Uptown Mauve:

Uptown Mauve

Uptown Mauve is a vibrant mauve cream.  Another one I love from this set!

Violet Volt:

Violet Volt

This one was hard to photograph!  I switched lighting around until I could get it true to color on me!  Violet Volt is a color I can’t really pull off.  It’s a vibrant violet and it’s really pretty… but it’s not pretty on me.  Probably going to play with this color and sheer it out with lip balm so I can pull it off better!

Chilled Brandy:

Chilled Brandy

This one is definitely not flattering on my skin tone!  This is a bronzey berry frost shade.  I don’t wear frosts much because they accentuate my dry lips (as you can see from the picture!).  I’m sure it would look great on a lot of women, I’m just not one of them.

Black Cherry:

Black Cherry

Black Cherry is just too dark for me!  I’ve seen other girls rock it in reviews but this is another miss with my skin tone / preference!  Black Cherry is pretty much what the name implies!  A really deep cherry / berry shade.

The Lip Liners:

Lip Liner

So in the two previous posts Nick said “Why are you drawing Z’s?” I honestly don’t know… so here is a C and S.  I think I liked the Z’s better.

Anyways, here are the 2 Lip Liners that came with the set!  The C is in Brandy and the S is in Fuchsia.  Fuchsia is gorgeous and my favorite of the 2.  It went with most of the Lipsticks in the Plums & Berries.  Brandy was just a tad too brown for me.  Both had great pigmentation and they glided on with no issues!

Overall – The Plums & Berries are really pretty!  I highlighted some of my favorites, and although I wasn’t in love with all of them, please keep in mind that I wasn’t in love with them on me!  All of the lipsticks glide on easily, have RICH pigmentation and are affordable!!

Fantastic reviews-all of the MIlani lip ones! I love that you put a full-face shot and also relieved that you mentioned how long it lasted on you. I can never get makeup to last long on my face throughout the day, so I always look for that information. It is a deal breaker for me. I loved so many of the shades!
