If you have purchased from Mentality from April 2015 – June 2015 and you are experiencing sensitivity, itchiness or burning, please contact Mentality directly to have your polishes replaced. Their email is [email protected]

I personally did NOT experience any reactions when using these polishes, but many did. Please know I would have been fully transparent had I known the damage that was being caused. Again, please read the announcement above and by clicking on it, you will be taken to Mentality’s initial statement regarding the issue.

I have a fun post for you up next!  This is the Mentality Nail Polish Crystalchromes collection which is the newest of their polish babies.

What are Crystalchromes?  They are a ceramic/glass hybrid of flakes that alter depending on their base and layering.  These are incredibly unique to my collection.

These can be used as 1 coat over a dark or light colored base or 2-3 coats on their own.  My preference is over a dark base to really make the flake colors pop though.

Since I will be showing these over different bases, this post will lean a bit picture heavy. Let’s take a look.

Carnival

Carnival

Carnival is an exclusive ceramic/glass hybrid that shifts from red to yellow to green. I used 1 coat over a black creme for most of these photos, but below I will show it layered over a white creme as well as on it’s own

Funhouse is the one I am completely and utterly in love with.  I will need another bottle because mine’s already half gone.

Funhouse is an exclusive ceramic/glass hybrid that shifts from aqua to blue to purple.

I used 1 coat over a black creme for these photos. Below I will show it layered over a white creme as well as on it’s own.

I added a second over white so you can see how it shifts more green where light hits.

Overview

I really loved this collection because as you can see the colors actually alter pretty drastically from a light base to a dark base.  I’m not a huge fan of any fleck polishes on their own and much prefer them over a creme, but you can still see that it looks like a completely different topper when used alone.

All 5 shades glided on fairly easily and laid flat.  Carousel had the largest fleck pieces in it which made layering it on it’s own slightly “lumpy” looking.

Now before I put the price, I will say these are priced higher than most Mentality shades, but you can look in their shop and see they aren’t price gougers so if they say they priced it as low as they could without going broke, I believe them. And after working with them for almost 3 years and seeing their low prices, I trust them. These are unique though and are incredibly beautiful.

So what did you think of these?  I personally find them unique and have been loving playing with them.

A few years ago I reviewed the Mentality normal flakies and still have those kicking around, so coming up soon will be a comparison post to see the difference in their normal flakes in comparison to these new Crystalchromes.
