Mentality Metallic Cremes Collection Swatches & Review

by Lisa Heath

***Added 7/23/15 – please read this announcement ***

If you have purchased from Mentality from April 2015 – June 2015 and you are experiencing sensitivity, itchiness or burning, please contact Mentality directly to have your polishes replaced. Their email is [email protected]

I personally did NOT experience any reactions when using these polishes, but many did. Please know I would have been fully transparent had I known the damage that was being caused. Again, please read the announcement above and by clicking on it, you will be taken to Mentality’s initial statement regarding the issue.

I went back and forth all day figuring out how to do this post.  On one hand, it’s 18 polishes which makes it a long post so breaking it up makes sense.  On the other hand, I personally want to see a full collection within 1 post so I can scroll through when I decide what I want to buy rather than swapping back and forth between posts.

Collage

I decided to post all 18 in one shot.

Each photo will show the shades with the solid color painted on 3 nails and the ring finger painted with Mentality Rascal and then the Metallic Creme shade stamped over it.  This is to show each polish on it’s own as well as show off it’s stamping abilities.  I decided on a black base to stamp over because it’s the darkest polish and you can see how opaque each Metallic Creme is over it.

Each Metallic Creme shade is almost a 1 coat polish.  I used 2 for each photo as usual though.

Let’s get started!

Overview

The Metallic Cremes are interesting.  They have the look of a metallic, but the consistency of a creme when applied.  Like most metallic polishes I’ve come across, brush strokes are visible to some degree in each shade.  The lighter shades definitely showed them more than darker.  All 18 shades are close to being 1 coat shades, a few are – but I did use 2 for all of these photos.  All of them stamped BEAUTIFULLY.  They all covered Rascal easily and were opaque over the black.

I would definitly buy these to use for stamping, but I think it’s a little to much brushstrokes in them to use as regular polish.

I haven’t had good experiences with metallics because I just don’ t have a steady enough hand to get even strokes!

I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading very slow for me.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end?
I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.

Although, the creatively democratic society that we progress towards optimizes fashion innovation, cynics of the bubble-up effect, such as
Johnny Stuart, condemned in his book on rockers, “the fancy fashionable versions of the Perfecto which you see all over the place, dilute the significance, taking away its original magic, castrating it”.
