Initial Lacquer Winter 2013 Collection Swatches and Review

by Lisa Heath

Initial Lacquer is back on the blog today with her Winter 2013 Collection!

I fell in love with a few of these shades and a few even have spots in my collection as being unique (which at some point becomes harder and harder!)

Red Steel

Red Steel

Red steel is a shimmer red base mixed with mirco fine red, black holo & red circle glitters.  This is a slightly more difficult polish to work with, but not impossible.  I do recommend very thin coats in order to not get a lumpy effect to the polish.  I used 3 thin coats for this photo.

First Day Of Winter

First Day Of Winter

First Day of Winter is a medium light blue, almost periwinkle base with matte white, yellow and pink glitter  in hex, rectangle and circle shapes.  I used 2 coats for this photo.

Counting Stars

Counting Stars

Counting Star is a black jelly base with random color flakes.  Probably my favorite of the collection.  I used 3 thin coats for this photo.

LWP

LWP

LWP (which stands for little white polish)is a crelly white base with fine gold and silver holo glitters and small iridescent glitters.  I used 3 thin coats for this photo.

Golden Glow

Golden Glow

Golden Glow is a glitter top coat with silver, gold, and black holo glitters in various sizes of hex and circle glitter.  I used 1 coat of Golden Glow over a light purple creme.

Frozen Rainbow

Frozen Rainbow

Frozen Rainbow is a glitter top coat with matte white, pastel pink, pastel purple, and yellow glitters.  I used 1 coat over a light blue creme for this photo.  The clear base in this is a little thicker and caused the glitters to slide around a bit, so I did have to manipulate just a little to get some glitters to stay in the middle of the nail.  Nothing horrible, and I like the glitter combo.

Nocturne

Nocturne

Nocturne is deep grey with silver shimmer plus micro holographic glitters.  I used 2 coats for this photo.

Star Align

Star Align

Star Align is a deep blurple base with red shimmer mixed with holo glitters.  I used 3 thin coats for this photo.  Again, much like Red Steel, I would suggest using thin coats with this polish to avoid a lumpy finish.

Star Align CU

Overall it’s a very pretty collection with some unique mixes in it.  A couple of the shades needed to be applied very thinly but they were easier to work with so applying thin coats really wasn’t difficult.

My Top Picks: Counting Stars, LWP and First Day Of Winter

Price: $9.00

Not a huge fan of Red Steel, but I love First Day of Winter! Square glitter is my favorite.
