Today’s review is a first for me!  NAIL POLISH JEWELRY!  I’ve been drooling over nail polish jewelry for awhile.  I already know that I personally do NOT have the patience to make it,  but I haven’t “pulled the trigger” on buying any yet because I was unsure if I would actually wear it.

A couple of months ago I was involved in a secret swap (yes this story has a point, bear with me) and I got an amazing lady to shop for.  Her “Wishlist” was a dream come true.  I got all her goodies together and shipped them off!  SUCCESS! She loved them!  Little did I know, my lady was about to open a little shop called “Puzzled & Polished” and she was making nail polish jewelry!  She asked for some bloggers to get the word out and review for her, so I threw my name in the hat to be considered.  She then asked me to review and sent me a pendant to review.  She used a polish I sent her in her surprise pack to make the pendant I am reviewing (this is good because she and I liked the same types of polishes!).

And that is how I came to review a piece of nail polish jewelry.  Told you there was kind of a point there.

Anyways.  Mandy is the lovely lady behind Puzzled & Polished and I can tell you now – she is a sweetheart!  She sent me a gorgeous pendant and the polish she used was Ozotic 512 (one of my gifts to her!) and it’s beautiful!  This is a fairly simple piece, it is a round cabochon with a bail.  The cabochon is not mounted.  Puzzled & Polished DOES carry mounted ones if you prefer that, I personally like them unmounted for simplicity.

I am extremely pleased with this pendant!  Ozotic 512 makes a PERFECT color for this!  I can wear this with most outfits and the holographic effect to it is fantastic!  In the sun it is breathtaking and it catches people’s eye!

The idea behind Puzzled & Polished is to help raise money for her son’s Autism Speaks group.  All proceeds go to the group to help them out.  So it is a good cause and the pieces she makes are gorgeous!

Good evening!  Today I have a little extra something for my post!  A VIDEO!  It’s a quick one, but this polish really isn’t captured completely in a photo, so a video was added to help show it off.

Today I wore Girly Bits Apparition over Illamasqua Prosperity.  Apparition is another polish from the Girly Bits Halloween Collection and it’s a beautiful addition to any polish lover’s collection.  Apparition is described as a clear base with off white hexes, squares and shreds, tiny little holo micro bars and opalescent hexes that flash a gorgeous violet, especially when layered over a darker lacquer.  Mainly I made the video (and by ‘made’ I clearly mean I just moved my hand around a little while Nick took the video) to show off small glimpses of the mini holo bar glitter and the flashes of violet from the opalescent hex glitters.  They are subtle, but they are definitely there and it’s hard to capture that beauty in a photo.  I decided to use Apparition over Illamasqua Prosperity as the base because I really love this shade of purple and it’s become one of my favorite base colors for various glittery top coat polishes.

I do want to say a HUGE “Thank You” to Nick for taking the video.  While it only seems like a quick job, Nick took the time to video it, edit it and all that fun stuff and it took over an hour to complete.  It’s best viewed in full screen.  The violet opalescent flashes and holo bars are really subtle!

You CAN see a color variation from Prosperity between the photo and the video.  The video appears darker because of the lighting in the house.  I would love to do amazing sunlight photos, but I work all day and by the time I get home all natural lighting is gone :/

One more thing to add!  If you despise “glitter removal” this polish is NOT like normal glitters!  I removed the entire mani with 3 cotton balls and I DIDN’T use any “soaking” method or scrubby tub!

I don’t do video’s often, I think it’s the second ever made in Cosmetic Sanctuary history.  I almost forgot how time consuming they can be, but for this polish, it was worth it… right Nick?

Good evening!  I always get excited sharing new Indie Lines with my readers, so I am VERY excited to show off some Vivid Lacquer swatches tonight!

I first came across Vivid Lacquer when the lovely lady behind the line offered to donate 3 of her polishes for the Indie Giveaway that Set In Lacquer and I did a couple weeks ago!  Then she offered to send me some goodies to review!  Eight to be exact!  Some of these are from the Vivid Lacquer Halloween Line!

Let’s get this started!

If I Were a Zombie:

If I Were a Zombie is one of my FAVORITES!  A pale dirty white/grey jelly base with black and red small glitter particles and red and black glitter shreds mixed in.  I used 3 coats and a top coat for this mani!  Amazing formula!

Pumpkin Hangover:

Pumpkin Hangover is a cute glittery top coat.  There are small red and yellow/gold glitter particles and larger white, orange, yellow and red hex glitters all mixed into a clear base.  This is only 1 coat!  No issues with glitter coming out on this one!  I put Pumpkin Hangover over Sinful Colors Unicorn.

Waning Gibbous:

Waning Gibbous is another favorite!  This beauty consists of a royal blue jelly base with blue, silver and purple hex glitters, purple and blue “crimped” hex glitters and small aqua glitter particles mixed in.  This is 3 coats and no base color.

Autumn Harvest:

Autumn Harvest is spectacular!  This one is a mix of  purple, red, gold/yellow, and pink hex glitters, “crinkled” purple hex glitters, red square glitter and small pink glitters mixed into a clear base.  I used this over Sinful Colors Black on Black and I love how it made the glitters pop.

Moonlit Cheshire:

Moonlit Cheshire is another favorite of mine.  This one is a mix of small silver and black glitters, slightly larger black and purple hex glitters, and silver shredded glitter is a dusty purple jelly base.  I used 3 coats for this photo and no base color.

Black Widow:

Black Widow is another glittery top coat.  This one is a mix of black and red hex glitters and then VERY small black bar glitter, like, the size of tiny spider legs small.  I used 1 coat of Black Widow over Butter London Shag.

The Ragdoll’s Soliloquy:

The Ragdoll’s Soliloquy is a mix of blue, mint and silver hex glitters, small black glitter and black hearts all in a shimmery teal base.  The shimmer is VERY subtle.  Really loved this one as well!  I used 1 coat of The Ragdoll’s Soliloquy over Sinful Colors Black on Black (which is one of my favorite black creams).

The Harloquin’s Adoration:

The Harlequin’s Adoration is so pretty!  I layered it over Sinful Colors Black on Black… again.  It really brings out the shimmery red base!  Mixed into the shimmery red base are small white and black matte glitter particles, white and black matte diamond glitters, red hex glitters and red hearts!  I got a decent mix of the different glitters without any fishing!  This is 1 coat of The Harlequin’s Adoration!

Vivid Lacquer is new to me, and I am so glad I got to try them out!  The formula, consistency and glitter content in them were spot on.  I didn’t have any application issues at all and they were easy to work with.

The lovely lady behind 365 Days of Color has expanded once again!  First it was polish, then she added on Miracle Balm, and most recently Sunny’s Cuticle Oil in roller ball containers.  When I saw the cute little roller ball cuticle oils I HAD to buy some!

I was ready for some high prices, but to my surprise, they weren’t all that much!  Only $4.00 for a 10ml roller ball bottle OR for $6.00 you can get the “Sampler Trio” which consists of 3  5ml bottles.  I decided to go with the trio and I was shocked when it showed up because I didn’t expect the containers to be as big as they are (this is in a good way of course).  If you can’t decide on a scent, the samplers are definitely the way to go!

I picked out Green Apple, Gummy Bears and … Monkey Farts.

Green Apple is a very crisp apple smell.

Gummy Bears is pretty easy to figure out!  Smells like the yummy gummy treats!

Monkey Farts… I’m going to use Sunny’s exact description for this.  “A Tropical Explosion with a top note of Banana”.  Monkey Farts is actually my favorite of the 3, and not just because of the name!

Here’s a photo for those curious about the “roller ball”:

Sunny’s Cuticle Oils are a mix of Sunny’s favorite oils – a special mix of jojoba, sweet almond, and avocado..and her own secret ingredient. Application is typical to any roller ball application, roll it on, let sit for a minute or two and then gently massage the oil in.  Usually I do this and my fingers retain the oily look for awhile until I wipe my fingers with a cloth.  Sunny’s Cuticle Oil soaks in within a minute of application and leaves my cuticles soft and beautiful!  Perfect for cuticle care at work and on the go!

Not a big fan of oils?  No worries!  365 Days of Color also carries Miracle Balms in cute, sturdy little containers!  Same amazing ingredients as the oils, but with shea butter added!  Prices for Miracle Balm are $5.00 for a trio sampler set, or $3.00 for individual balms.

I have another wonderful treat for everyone!  I received 6 Contrary Polishes to swatch and I am thrilled with these!

Contrary Polish is an indie line made by a woman named Carrie and you can tell by the quality in these shimmery beauties that she loves what she does!  Each polish base is paired PERFECTLY with shimmer.  The shimmer isn’t super strong, but it also isn’t too subtle.

I won’t make you wait much longer… here are the swatches!

Purple Smoke:

Purple Smoke is a medium grey creme base with blue and purple shimmer.  This was my favorite of the 6!  The shimmer is so gorgeous!  I used 2 coats for this mani and a top coat of HK Girl.

Inky Fingers:

Inky Fingers is a purple creme base with blue and green shimmer throughout!  I LOVE the subtlety of the shimmer in all of these!  I used 2 coats for this and a top coat of HK Girl!

Gilded Oak:

Gilded Oak is a slightly reddish tinged medium brown base (think Dr. Pepper soda) with a gorgeous gold shimmer.  PERFECT for fall!  2 coats were used for this mani!

Creeping Moss:

Another amazing Fall color!  Creeping Moss is an olive green/brown creme base with pink and copper shimmer!  I’m not a fan of olive green, but the shimmer in this makes it work for me.  2 coats and a top coat of HK Girl finished this mani off!

Firebrand:

Now you all know I love Jelly polishes – so I loved this one!  Firebrand is a raspberry jelly base with red and pink shimmer.  I used 3 coats of Firebrand for this mani, I could have used 2, but I wanted 3 for more depth in the shimmer.  LOVE!

Bright Night:

The other Jelly!  Bright Night is a deep blue jelly with aqua and silver shimmer.  Again, I used 3 coats for this and a top coat of HK Girl.  Love the jellies!

The quality of all 6 polishes reminded me more of department store polishes.  Contrary Polish went on like BUTTER!  Not too thick, not too thin and perfect amount of shimmer!  The polish was perfectly smooth on the nail, no grittiness, no streaks and besides the jellies, they were 2 coaters!

I have been itching to type up this post for weeks now!  A few weeks ago I was sent a gorgeous white polish with the prettiest iridescent shimmer throughout it … but was told I had to wait to post it!  Do you know how difficult that is??

Today I present to you a piCture pOlish/Llarowe collaboration!  WHITE WEDDING!  This shade is exclusive to Llarowe and piCture pOlish you won’t find ‘White Wedding’ anywhere else!

White Wedding is a sheer white jelly polish with small iridescent shimmer throughout.  It is absolutely gorgeous!  I used 3 coats for this photo and a glossy top coat.

Ready for some sunlight photos?  As you can tell by the nail length, these weren’t taken on the same day.  I tried getting some shots that showed the iridescent shimmer off – or “fairy dust” – so difficult to capture this polish!

I used this for a mani the day after I got it and got a LOT of compliments on my nails – but I couldn’t say a WORD to anyone (of course I emailed Leah Ann about it) but I couldn’t say anything on my blog or even do a cell phone snap shot.  It was killing me!

Happy Sunday!  Today I am showing off 3 lovely indie polishes from the amazing lady at 365 Days of Color!  I have all 5 polishes from her first release of polishes and was thrilled to have the opportunity to review 3 from her second release!  365 Days of Color’s second release is called Candy Shoppe Collection, and as I’m sure you can guess from the name, all of the polishes are named after sweets!  I did make a Walgreen’s run for polish remover while working on these swatches, and I will admit I picked up some candy bars because this collection revved up my sweet tooth.

Mint Chip:

Mint Chip is a pale mint green base with small matte black square glitter inside.  This one really got my mouth watering and it looks just like one of my favorite ice cream flavors!  3 coats were used for this photo, but I could have done 2 and been just fine.

Make Me Laugh-y Taffy:

Make Me Laugh-y Taffy was probably my favorite of the 3.  Sheer bubblegum pink jelly base with multi colored shredded glitter inside.  When I first saw the swatch of this done by 365 Days of Color, I knew that I absolutely HAD to have this color.  I used 3 coats for this mani.

Buttafinga:

This one is the reason I made a candy bar run.  Buttafinga is a mixture of coppery glitter and slightly larger square black glitter.  I layered this over black, so the black squares aren’t showing up much, but they are there.  This is 2 layers of Buttafinga over black.

There are 2 more polishes that are a part of the Candy Shoppe Collection and those 2 are Rock Candy and Sugar High.  I will be purchasing these next payday!  I already have her first release of polishes and they are just as pretty as these!  Definitely another indie polish maker to look out for!
